This office center,
located on the approach road to the Lebanon, NH airport, was built as
a speculative venture. The developer wanted to maximize the size of
the building as permitted by local zoning. He hoped to build a
distinctive but low cost structure that would be flexible for
potential tenant layouts. The topography of the site sloped in two
directions posing a difficult design challenge.
Design Solution
The design incorporates a standard pre-engineered structure in a two
level plan that fits the topography. The structure is wrapped in a
distinctive masonry skin on all visible sides. The scored concrete
block masonry is painted with shades of color to articulate the rhythm
and patterns of the shell. The result is an attractive, unique
building that is unrecognizable as a typical “Butler Building”. |
