An existing house sat on a
spectacular 100 acre property with ponds and 50 mile views on a clear
day. Our client carefully evaluated whether to tear down or renovate
the poorly constructed house. Although the plan did not meet their
needs, they decided to extensively renovate, add needed space, and
preserve some features such as a large stone fireplace, old panel
doors, and wood details.
Program
Our clients needed a house that would be comfortable for two
professionals every day, but which also would permit privacy and
graciousness for weekend guests and for entertaining. A kitchen
designed carefully for gourmet food preparation, was a must. Their
propensity was for a house on one floor, traditional design, the reuse
of old materials, and hand made cabinetry. |
