Site
This AIA Award winning house is situated on a small lot in an
established neighborhood with houses of mixed architectural styles.
The southern half of the land has a wooded ravine with a major
drainage channel traversing its length, while the other half was only
very steep. The site presents open space and panoramic views to the
west; the access is from the east.
Program
The design accommodates the needs of two career professionals and
their two children. The house is zoned for privacy and acoustics and
includes a separate entrance for a professional studio. A safe, level
driveway was essential. Energy efficiency, natural light, ventilation,
and ease of maintenance were high priorities, but so were spatial
delight and aesthetics. |
